8th day - 8ème jour

We're nearing the end of the training course ... This morning we listened to a presentation of the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, focusing specially on key activities in the youth field. The presentation was followed by an interactive workshop on conflict management, much appreciated by the participants. In the afternoon the participants got to present and start working on their ideas for intercultural youth projects aimed at promoting the inclusion and participation of youth with fewer opportunities.

Conflict management - Gestion de conflits

La fin de la formation s'approche ... La première séance de la matinée était consacrée à une présentation du programme Erasmus+ de l'Union européenne. Cette présentation a été suivi par un atelier sur la gestion de conflits qui a été très apprécié par les participants. Après la pause déjeuner, les participants ont pu présenter leurs idées de projets interculturels de jeunesse visant la promotion de l'inclusion et la participation active des jeunes ayant moins d'opportunités.

7th day - 7ème journée

This morning the participants had the opportunity to visit and discover the European Parliament, a mechanism for representative democracy at a European level. In the afternoon, we started discussing project management and how to prepare, implement and evaluate intercultural youth projects with a Euro-Mediterranean dimension. We also did a worskhop during which we identified the different skills (aptitudes, attitudes and knowledge) that a youth leader needs to have.

Ce matin, les participants ont pu visiter et découvrir le Parlement européen en tant que mécanisme de démocratie représentative à l'échelle européenne. L'après-midi nous avons commencé à aborder la conduite de projets interculturels de jeunesse; nous avons vu les différentes phases d'un projet (préparation, mise en œuvre et évaluation et suivi). Les participants ont également eu à réfléchir sur et définir les compétences que doit posséder un animateur de jeunesse.

6ème journée - 6th day

While some people took the free afternoon the previous day to take a trip to Germany and others spent it exploring Strasbourg some more, everyone met up once again in the evening for dinner out together in a new setting. Good food, music, company and dancing made it a wonderful evening.

On day 6, the course participants worked in sub-groups and had to transfer all the knowledge and information they gained over the first 5 days. They formulated concrete suggestions and recommendations as a step towards encouraging societal participation of disadvantaged youth. Theatre, sketches and role play were used for presenting their ideas creatively, which brought with it new energy and life into the team.

Alors que certains ont profité du temps libre de l'après-midi la veille pour aller en Allemagne et les autres l'ont passé en explorant encore Strasbourg, ils se sont tous rencontrés le soir pour manger dehors dans un nouveau lieu. La bonne cuisine, la musique, l'atmosphère et la danse ont rendu la soirée magnifique.

Jour 6, les participants ont travaillé en sous-groupes en transférant leurs nouveaux savoirs et renseignements pendant les 5 premiers jours. Ils ont formulé des propositions et des recommandations concrètes promouvant la participation à la vie publique des jeunes défavorisés. D'ailleurs, les méthodes créative de présenter leurs idées comme le théâtre, les sketchs et le jeu de rôle, ont apporté l'esprit et une énergie vive à l'équipe.

5ème journée - 5th Day

Spirits were high in the group leading up to the midterm evaluation. The first half of the day was devoted to a workshop that allowed the course participants to share their experiences. This meant they could go into more depth about a topic they wanted to share with the rest of the group. Like a jukebox, each person could choose three topics they were interested in, including the revolutions in Ukraine and Georgie, integration in Italy, youth councils and political quotas in Morocco, demonstrations in Turkey and many more. In he afternoon, everyone gathered together to discuss their impressions of the course so far. The final moment of the session involved everyone standing together on a sunny island (represented artistically of course) and saying how the group dynamic was outstanding. A positive result overall!

Le bon moral du groupe se manifestait en attendant l'évaluation intermédiaire. Le matin était consacré à un atelier qui permettait aux participants de partager leurs bonnes pratiques et expériences. Ainsi ils avaient l'occasion d'approfondir un thème qu'ils voulaient partager avec les autres. Comme un juke-box, chacun pouvait choisir trois thèmes auxquels il s'intéressait: les révolutions en Ukraine et en Géorgie, l'insertion des jeunes en Italie, les quotas politiques et conseils de jeunes au Maroc, les manifestations en Turquie etc. L'après-midi, les participants se sont rassemblés pour discuter de leurs impressions de la formation. A la fin, tout le monde se sont retrouvés sur une île ensoleillée (représentée d'une façon artistique, naturellement), disant que la dynamique du groupe était exceptionnelle. En tout et pour tout, un résultat positif!

4th day - Quatrième journée

Today we met with representatives of the Council of Europe, Ms Orsolya Gancsos and Mr Denis Huber of the Congress of Local and Regional Powers, as well as Ms Ada Reichhart, a young city councillor of the City of Strasbourg, for a roundtable discussion on the European week on local democracy and youth participation at local level. We also met Marie and Clémentine, two active members of "les Jeunes Européens" and discussed youth participation at a European level. In the afternoon, we did an interactive quiz during which the participants got a chance to walk around Strasbourg while discussing with the locals on the topic of the European elections and youth participation in democratic life ...

Aujourd'hui nous avons rencontré deux représentants du Conseil de l'Europe, Orsolya Gancsos et Denis Huber du Congrès des pouvoirs locaux et régionaux, ainsi qu'Ada Reichhart, une jeune élue de la Ville de Strasbourg, pour une table ronde sur la Semaine européenne de la démocratie locale et la participation des jeunes à la vie publique au niveau local. Par la suite, nous avons également rencontré Marie et Clémentine, deux jeunes membres des "Jeunes Européens, avec lesquelles nous avons discuté de la participation des jeunes au niveau européen. L'après-midi, nous avons fait un quiz interactif, durant lequel les participants ont eu l'occasion de se promener dans le centre de ville de Strasbourg et interagir avec le population locale autour de la thématique des élections européennes et la participation des jeunes à la prise de décision démocratique ...

First three days ... Les trois premiers jours !

The training course is well underway. We have updated the e-platform with some of the documents used yesterday and today (the presentation of the project, the définitions of the key concepts, the powerpoint presentation on e-participation...). Check them out under "Implementation"!

AMSED is very happy to be able to welcome you to the e-platform of the  the training course « Participation and inclusion of disadvantaged youth », that will take place in Strasbourg from June 21st through July 1st with the support of the Youth in Action programme of the European Union.  On this platform participants will find all the information needed in order to prepare for the training course.
